Burma Davis Posey… Happy Birthday!

Fellow Foodies,
The common bonds of life revolve around good food, family and faith. Regardless of our backgrounds or heritage, whenever we meet new folks and realize aspects of their lives mirror ours, we immediately feel a connection that binds us together.
Last month, I wrote about Burma Davis Posey and told of her exciting story and love of all things Southern, gourmet and symbolic of a more gentile way of life. Her recipe for Georgia Cream Cheese Cake was a hit as countless foodies called, e-mailed and commented. I owe much to Burma because for years she has encouraged me to write about my passion… and I have via this website/blog.
Today, September 9th, is Burma’s birthday. She turns 39 again this year! I suppose the things I like about Burma are her stories of a small Georgia hometown, a father that served the community by public service, a mother who entertained folks dressed as Phyllis Diller, and an appreciation for fine things such as a beautifully set dining room table, just polished family silver passed from generation to generation, and a tattered cookbook stained with flour, cake batter, water, and gravy. Traditions that make for lasting memories are important to Burma, and to all of us.
Burma, you are an incredible cook and foodie. May this next year of your life be blessed beyond measure.
Happy Birthday!
