Welcome… for the food lover in all of us!

A fun food gift for children… felt foods!

Sunday Jul 5, 2009

banana-split

In addition to being a great baker, Donna E. Godfrey is a whiz with the sewing machine.  After a special request I made for ‘felt foods’ for my niece and nephews, she whipped out some awesome things (see pictures).   So, I have encouraged her to make the creations available to everyone… www.donnacraft.com

My niece and nephews are younger and are having a blast playing kitchen, tea parties, etc.  Also, it is a great educational tool to teach young children about food, spelling, pronunciation, colors, etc.   The first shipment of felt food was such a hit, I commissioned two more shipments and each box is highly anticipated from these kids… as well as their parents!

Finally, wonderful food with no calories!

Lavender-Blueberry Ice Cream

Sunday Jan 18, 2009

You won’t believe the beautiful color and flavor of this delicious ice cream. If you are not fond of lavender you can reduce the amount, or leave it out— the ice cream will still be gorgeous, the cinnamon is a wonderful compliment to the blueberries.

Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

Tuesday Jan 13, 2009

Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

The cupcakes were scrumptious with a moist and tender cake. The frosting had a great peanut flavor and wasn’t too sweet. We had the SNDsters top their own cupcakes with cacao nibs and M&M minis. They were enjoyed by all.

Happy Birthday Brundi!

Today, January 5th is my sister’s birthday.  She is a wonderful lady who has dedicated her life to educating young minds.   Brundi is a great teacher and foodie.

This special birthday cake is a custom creation from Jennifer Matsubara, owner of Shelby Lynn’s Cake Shoppe in Springdale, Arkansas.

My sister loves anything from Shelby Lynn’s.   Jennifer is extremely talented and her cakes are as good as they look!

Tiny Tiramisu

Wednesday Dec 3, 2008

A few Savoiardis (crisp Italian sponge finger biscuits) broken up, dipped quickly in strong espresso and liquor/liqueur of choice (I used Kahlua), then layered in shot glasses with your usual Tiramisu ingredients, a little mascarpone, the Savoiardis, and uncooked zabaione mixture, ending with mascarpone. Then topped with a dusting of shaved dark chocolate.
All of the flavors, but very little work.

Baked Hot Chocolate

Thursday Nov 20, 2008

Baked Hot Chocolate

“Baked hot chocolate is almost like having three desserts in one — the top layer has just a hint of crispness, the center has the texture of warm chocolate pudding, and the bottom layer is just a shade thicker than the thickest hot chocolate you can imagine.”

Sunday Night Dinner brought us this dessert, click here for the recipe. The photo here may be small, but click the link and you will lick the screen… heavenly!

Blueberry Muffins with Streusel Topping

Wednesday Nov 12, 2008

Blueberry Muffins

with

Streusel Topping

The recipe is an adaptation of Ina Garten’s blueberry coffee cake muffins with a topping added. The muffin part is delicious on its own with a moist and light cake like crumb filled with blueberries. And they aren’t overly sweet, which is a big plus. The streusel topping makes the muffin even better by adding a nice crunchy texture and a bit of sweetness.

Sunday Night Dinner brought us this muffin, click here for the recipe.
